As of today, The P&I Mortality rate for the 2019-2020 Flu season is 7.1% (this is only confirmed cases, this does not factor in all of the people that get the flu and just stay home, like me). If I read the info correctly, Covid-19 is not included in this statistic.

The Covid-19 Mortality rate in the US is 1.95% (these are numbers only for verified cases and there is currently no projection listed on their site… or I didn’t find it).

Take precautions, wash your hands, sanitize stuff, avoid close contact and large groups of people, put away supplies to survive at least a month at home, but for Heaven’s sake, DON’T PANIC!!! You should wash your hands and clean up regularly anyway… If you’re one of those people that doesn’t wash your hands when you leave the restroom, stay away from me, because if I see you do it anytime, not just during a pandemic, I’m going to confront you about it you disgusting jackass.

Odds of survival are actually pretty good if you just practice good hygiene and you don’t have pre-existing conditions that make your odds worse… older adults with risk increasing with age, heart disease, diabetes, lung disease. If you are at higher risk, take the precautions, but DON’T PANIC.

I realize that bad shit is happening in Italy (and other places) because of this virus, so we also have to do our part to not overload the medical services available. Personally, I think everyone should always have at least a 30 day supply of stuff to survive at home on “lock-down” for everyone in their household because you never know when bad shit is going to happen (job loss, serious injury, natural disaster, global pandemic). I know it’s not exactly easy for everyone to just run out and buy an extra month of supplies, but it’s really not that hard to build up to either. Buy one extra item every time you go to the store, whether it’s a box of pasta or a roll of toilet paper. Switch it up, but buy one extra item on every trip and before you know it you’ll have supplies for a month. That’s how I did it before I made the money I make now (but why stop at just one month? Maybe it’ll take you 6 months to find another job, I don’t know about you, but I still like to eat whether I’m working or not.)
