Randomness (re: Toby Keith)

OK, those of you that have heard of me before know that I am III and a citizen, but this post is not really along those lines (although it may be a sign of the times that we all gripe about)
I went to see Toby Keith last night.
I saw him back in 2006 and it was one of the best shows I had ever seen. I like(d) his music, and the show he put on was awesome. I had been upset the past few years because I hadn’t been able to go see him again… He is the first person that I have seen more than once when I didn’t know anyone not actually related to the band in some fashion (whether it was a friends sister dating a member or I knew a member personally, etc), so that says a lot as I have been to quite a few concerts in my life. His show in 2006 was that good.
Well, as I said, I went to see him last night with my wife and some friends. After that show, I am sorely disappointed.
I honestly would like my money back.
I wish I had never gone to see him again, because I would have remembered the great show from 5 years ago rather than the vulgar, drunken spectacle I witnessed last night.
The opening singer wasn’t half bad, but I didn’t catch his name (it’s not on the ticket and I don’t care enough to try to find it). Then Eric Church came on. The songs that I think were originals were all about drinking or getting high. The covers that he did finished him off for me. He’s not good IMHO.

I was excited for Church to be done (yes, he was that bad) and I was excited to finally see Toby again. My God, I wish I could take it back. If I had seen this show 5 years ago, I would have stopped listening to Toby. Between messing up the words to his own songs, the vulgar hand motions and replacing “lonely” with “horny”, I’m a bit disgusted by his whole show. I liked the songs the way they were originally sung, but from this point forward I won’t be able to listen to it without hearing the crap he did last night.
If anyone knows who I can contact to lodge a formal complaint to Toby Keith, I’m all ears. I tried finding contact info, but I didn’t see anything available to the public… and I’m damn sure not going to join his fan club at this point.

And to make the night even better, I almost got into a fight walking to the car after the show. A couple of drunk kids (early 20’s if they’re lucky) kept getting closer and closer to me. I said “would you mind walking in a straight line?” They didn’t hear me, but my wife did and thought I was talking to her so she asked what I said. I told her I wasn’t talking to her, I was talking to them and motioned towards them. Well they noticed that and said something along the lines of “What, are you afraid to say it to us?” I looked at them and said no, and repeated myself again. Then they started talking about how drunk they were and it’s not likely that they can walk in a straight line. So I made the comment that I didn’t want to bump into them and either fall down or knock them down (they kept angling into me, I had to step around them a couple times, maybe the “straight line” thing was too much, but I just wanted them to pay attention to what they were doing). Anyway, the one that was a big part of the walking problem ambled ahead so he wasn’t next to us anymore. I was fine with that, but the really drunk one and his other buddy got behind us and were making comments about what to do if I kept “angling towards them”. So I told them I could hear them talking, and they should just move on. The really drunk one started talking crap about how the other one (the big one that walked ahead after I commented) has served in Afghanistan and killed blah blah bad guys, all for me, etc. The one that stayed behind tried to get him to walk on, but he kept on (he was obviously trying to intimidate me, which just pissed me off more). So I told him that I was a disabled vet. He then proceeded to tell me that he was active duty. My response was, “I’m happy for you, I don’t care”. The one that stayed behind with him kinda grabbed him by the arm and started pushing him away, but he made the mistake of “patting” my stomach as he did. So, since I was already pissed off at this point, I gave him a shove and said “don’t f’in touch me”. Well, the advantage to being short and thick is that I have a low center of gravity, and when I decide to shove someone they typically move… he took about 3 steps into the jackass (that almost fell). He looked a little shocked, but quickly and forcefully moved the jackass away from me (the jackass had started really hard trying to come back to me after the shove), but the other had to have been surprised by what he felt when he “tapped” my stomach and then the shove. I may look like a butterball, but looks can be deceiving. Anyway, they went away after that, which is a good thing (although the jackass could be heard making comments about “that fat little f**er”). I still had my pocket knife on me (yes, I got it in past the pat down at the gates, I’m never totally “nekkid”). At 3 to 1 odds against much younger and bigger people, there is no such thing as a fair fight. I may be little, but I am prepared to do what I need to do to preserve the life I have.

All in all, last night was a major disappointment. I’d like a do-over please.
